"Looking back and looking forward..."
As we enter our 20th year of ministry we are in awe of what God has
done. It all started with humble beginnings with the original "Love
Station" KLVV broadcasting to Ponca City and surrounding areas. Today we
broadcast 2 different formats on 14 different frequencies around Oklahoma and
Kansas and around the world on the Internet. Only God could accomplish
this. It is such a blessing to be a part of this ministry and daily see
God at work in people's lives through music and ministry.
This past year has been full of circumstances that would have devastated some
stations. An EF5 tornado blew down and tore apart our Oklahoma City tower
and transmitter in May. While some might have said "Why, God?" our staff said,
"What is your plan, God, and how can we accomplish it?" With help from
God-ordained partners, we got back on the air as quickly as possible in a
temporary fashion while the huge task of rebuilding a tower was undertaken.
Today we give God the glory that 88.5 FM is back on the air stronger than ever
and continuing to broadcast God's love and peace to a huge listening area.
We continue to look for ways to be more than a radio station. Over the
years we've been involved with many outreaches that weren't necessarily "radio"
related, but to us they were all a part of our calling in ministry. Just
recently we had the opportunity to bring the powerful movie "Courageous" to a
broad audience in our listening area. We knew the impact this movie was
having, especially among fathers, and jumped at the chance to take this movie to
many communities and offer it for free. As we believed, God moved and we
saw over 4500 people touched by this film.
As we look back over the things that have transpired in our first 20 years, I
wonder if the first supporters of the station are surprised and amazed at what
God has done here. Many gave sacrificially to this ministry before the
first transmitter was even turned on. That is faith! It's incredible
now to see God using this ministry that started so small, reaching around the
world even into countries where proclaiming the Gospel is against the law. To
God be the glory!
Twenty years marks a definite milestone and as we look back and forward, our
prayer echoes what you have heard us encouraging you to do -- pray a simple
3-word prayer... "Surprise Me, God." God's plans are so much greater than
anything we can plan or even imagine. We want to be open to whatever God
brings our way with a pliable spirit and eager anticipation. Who knows
what God may have in store this year and in the future?
We want you to pray that way, too, as you consider your support this year.
"Surprise me, God! Show me what you want to do through me and help me be
obedient to do it with the resources that You have blessed me with!" It's
exciting to open your heart and ask the Lord to show you His direction.
Sometimes it can be frightening when we don't understand or see how God can make
happen what He's telling us. But, oh the incredible testimony it is when
God accomplishes what we can't see or believe.
Will you pray that way this year when you make your pledge to the ministry of
The House FM and My Praise FM? I hope you will and that you'll go on-line
to one of our web sites or return the form from this newsletter and let us know
we can count on your support this year as the ministry continues to reach people
for Christ.
God bless you and your family. Thank you for listening, for praying, and
for your support of the ministry financially. I pray that He will continue
to bless you through the music, the DJ's and all the other ways you interact
with The House FM and My Praise FM.
