Prayer Vigil for Foster Kids
Many kids in foster care feel like they don't have a prayer...let's change that.
Prayer Vigil for Oklahoma Children in Foster Care to be Held in Oklahoma City on May 20, 2013
May is National Foster Care Month and Oakcliff Church of the Nazarene will be joining churches across the country in organized prayer vigils for children in foster care. The prayer vigil will take place on May 20, 2013 from 7 - 9 PM.
Several national organizations including Focus on the Family, Hope for Orphans, a ministry of FamilyLife, and Show Hope (founded by Grammy winning singer/songwriter Steven Churtis Chapman and his wife Mary Beth) are encouraging people to gather together to pray for more than 400,000 children growing up in the foster care system during the month of May. Sever hundred prayer vigils for children and youth in foster care are expected to be held across the country during this national effort. These prayer vigils will provide an opportunity for communities all over America to remember and pray for the children and families as well as the caseworders and judges working to help them find loving homes.

A chamber group comprised of fifteen members of the Africa University Choir and the choir director will be in the USA from May 25th to June 17th. The choir’s 2013 tour schedule includes itineration in local churches as well as performances at the Oklahoma Annual Conference and Indiana Annual Conference gatherings. The choir will also take part in this year’s centenary celebrations at The Lake Junaluska Assembly, with a performance at the opening worship service of the 2013 Lake Junaluska Summer Worship Series and an evening concert on June 16th.
The touring choir features students from various African countries, all with a passion for music ministry. Its repertoire is drawn from the African praise and worship tradition and features songs in more than 18 languages, including English, French, Portuguese, Swahili (East and Central Africa); Shona and Ndebele (Zimbabwe); Zulu (South Africa); and Lingala (Democratic Republic of Congo). These songs speak of abiding faith in the face of trials and celebrate the fullness of God’s love. They inspire movement and are often joyful expressions of gratitude and hope in Almighty God.
The director of the Africa University Choir, Mr. Tendekai Kuture, is a distinguished Zimbabwean choral conductor. He is head of the Department of Music in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Africa University.

The Love Run
This poker run is open to ALL, motorcycle & car enthusiasts alike (last year we even had a bicyclist join us on the first leg of the run!) All wheels welcome!
Registration begins at 10am at Oklahoma's oldest bar and chicken shack, Eischen's in Okarche, Oklahoma, with last bikes out by 11am. We'll see a bit of historic Route 66 along the ride and will end the day at the Center of Family Love with a concert and cookout. Here you'll have the chance to meet many of the folks that you are supporting with this ride.
All proceeds go to support CFL's mission of providing quality lifetime care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Christmas Market Oklahoma
A German themed Christmas festival will be held on the square of First Lutheran Church and School. Come enjoy the sights, sounds and aromas of Christmas as we prepare for the holiday season. In-state and out-of-state vendors will be selling a huge variety of unique gifts, arts and crafts. There will be all day musical performances by local church choirs, school groups and individuals. Ethnic food, photos with Santa, and a Cookie Walk with hundreds of cookies will also be featured. Proceeds benefit the First Lutheran
School scholarship fund. The festival is handicap accessible and admission is free.
